― Shielded from the hustle and bustle of the street and tucked away in the lower servants floor of an old Marseilles building, the project reveals itself through a hidden entrance, around a flight of stairs and in the tinkle of its loose floor tiles. This fragmented sequence, punctuated by doors that act as thresholds, gives the site its secrecy and silence.

Behind the thick medieval entrance, with its frame carved with abstract arabesques and its nail-studded casement, lies a unified space aside a patio where jasmine, bougainvillea and laurel rustle and dance in a shadow play.

The slender, vaulted ceiling is matched by the arcades of the large oak glazed wall, whose elegant monumentality makes it the focal point of the space.
With its folding panels, it allows people and natural air to move around freely, and provides an airy, ever-changing view of this initially deep, introverted and cramped interior.

The desire for quietude and seclusion in this small, discreet urban sanctuary is also reflected in the use of a chiaroscuro of raw, dense and soothing materials that leads to the formal and the praise of shadow.

As a counterpoint to the rigorous, grooved wood panelling, berber doors adorned with amazigh motifs and other objects of primitive arts, give this space an atmosphere conducive to travel ―
